Installing Your Tracking Script

Updated this week

Installing your RB2B tracking script is straightforward. Follow these steps to ensure a smooth installation process and begin identifying and engaging with your website visitors.

Step 1: Navigate to the Script Management Section

To begin, go to the Script Management section in your RB2B dashboard. You can access it by clicking “Script” in your dashboard menu or by visiting https://app.rb2b.com/script.

Step 2: Add an Authorized Domain

Why Authorization Matters

RB2B requires domain authorization to ensure your tracking script runs exclusively on approved domains. This prevents unauthorized use, protecting you from data leaks and misuse of your credits by stopping others from copying the script and installing it on unauthorized sites.

To add an authorized domain:

  • In the “Code Script” section, locate and click the “Add a Domain” button at the bottom.

Step 3: Enter Your Domain

In the pop-up window that appears:

  1. Enter your domain where the RB2B tracking script will run.

  2. Click Save to apply your changes, or Cancel if you wish to discard them.

Examples:

  • rb2b.com authorizes the script to run on rb2b.com, www.rb2b.com, support.rb2b.com, etc.

  • support.rb2b.com authorizes the script only on support.rb2b.com.

  • www.rb2b.com authorizes the script only on www.rb2b.com.

This setup helps ensure the tracking script functions only on designated pages, supporting accurate data collection and secure lead tracking.

Step 4: Install the RB2B Tracking Script

RB2B offers a variety of installation guides tailored for different website platforms, including:

Visit Script Installation Guides for step-by-step instructions or access the general guide for manual installation if your platform isn’t listed.

If your website is built on a single-page application platform like React, Next, or Angular, please ensure that you have configured your installation so that the RB2B tracking script triggers on each page view as your user navigates through your site.

Step 5: Verify Your Installation

After installation, it’s recommended (though not required) to verify that the tracking script is functioning correctly.

  1. Verification Process Use the built-in verification tool by clicking the Test Script button next to the authorized domain. This will open a pop-up window displaying your site, where RB2B will confirm that the script is installed and operational. Important: Do not close this pop-up during the process, as this will interrupt verification.

  2. Troubleshooting If verification fails, refer to our Troubleshooting Guide for assistance.

Troubleshooting Script Visibility Issues

In some cases, even if the Test Script tool confirms installation, the script may not appear publicly due to caching issues. Follow these steps:

  1. Identify Caching Plugins: Check for caching plugins or CDNs (e.g., WP Fastest Cache, WP Rocket).

  2. Clear Cache: Clear cache both at the plugin level and across server/CDN levels.

  3. Verify in Incognito Mode: Open your website in an incognito window or logged out of admin accounts.

  4. Inspect the Script Tag: Re-run the Test Script tool or manually inspect your site’s source code to confirm the script tag appears live.

  5. Trust the Test Script Tool If the tool confirms the script is installed but you don't see your own visits attributed, trust the tool's results. This is a normal behavior due to identification limitations and does not indicate an issue.

Note: The script will automatically verify itself upon the first data transmission, so while manual verification is a useful step, it is not mandatory.

Best Practices for Script Installation

  • Always use the Test Script tool for initial setup confirmation.

  • Regularly monitor for caching conflicts, especially after updates to your CMS or website.

  • Clear caches regularly if you use CDNs or caching plugins to ensure script visibility.

By following these steps, you’ll successfully integrate RB2B’s tracking script, enabling real-time visitor identification and unlocking valuable insights into your audience.
