Ensure GDPR Compliance While Managing Cookie Consent and International Visitor Tracking

Updated this week

Introduction

RB2B is committed to ensuring compliance with GDPR regulations through robust mechanisms for managing cookies and tracking user interactions. This article explores how RB2B handles GDPR compliance with respect to cookies, Geo-IP API usage, and international tracking configurations.

GDPR Compliance Mechanisms

1. Management of Cookies

RB2B sets session cookies such as _reb2bloaded and _reb2bsessionID before obtaining user consent. These cookies are specifically designed not to store any personal identifiable information (PII). Users have the option to reject cookies, after which these cookies can be flushed using tools such as CookieYes. Full user identification, such as connecting session data to IP addresses, only begins after explicit user consent.

2. Use of Geo-IP API Services

RB2B uses a GDPR-compliant third-party Geo-IP API service to determine user location. This service only provides true or false location data without sharing user IP addresses with RB2B. This ensures that no identifiable information is collected or processed before obtaining explicit user consent.

Handling International Tracking Compliance

For users who want to avoid European Union (EU) cookie compliance requirements specifically for company-level visitors, RB2B offers the option to disable international tracking. Once international tracking is turned off, EU cookie compliance rules no longer apply to company-level visitors. This configuration is especially useful for organizations with strictly localized operations.

Disclaimer

While RB2B provides configurable tools for GDPR compliance, users are encouraged to consult with legal professionals to ensure their organization’s practices align with applicable laws and regulations.
